Maidaan

The film Maidaan has the title which means Playground, and this title is a fitting representation for the Indian biographical sports drama film Maidaan directed by Amit Sharma released in October 2023. The struggles and eventual victories earned by the Indians thanks to Abdul Rahim who was the coach of the football team which is the focal point of the film.

The character of Rahim the Indian football coach is played by Ajay Devgan who idolizes the coach for being highly driven and passionate about not just the sport but the country as well. The film then shifts to the 1960s that portrays the progression of football in India and how down the pyramid people looked at it in India, the story focuses on Rahim’s time as the coach.

Maidaan explores how a man single handedly fought the British Imperialism in India and paved the way for an entire nation, the film surely makes one proud. It has been seen that the film has patriotic ambience previously unseen by mass audiences where Indians wanted to.
