Extraction

Extraction is a 2020 American action thriller featuring direction from Sam Hargrave. This particular film sees Chris Hemsworth in the role of a mercenary named Tyler Rake who is in Bangladesh working for a crime syndicate and is hired because the son of one of the drug lords has been kidnapped.

Even though the film is not a genre defining one, critics praised the movie’s avoidance of typical stylized ‘fighting’. Hemsworth, in fact, received admiration from even critics for his physically demanding role in Extraction with the fights being realistic.

The film managed to be a commercial triumph streaming to over 75 million audiences through Netflix. It became the most viewed film in Netflix in the year 2020 and was the cause for a sequel film called Extraction 2 which was launched in the year 2023.
